Special Section: Assuring Information Quality.

DONALD BALLOU is an Emeritus member of the faculty of the School of Business at the University at Albany. His graduate degrees are in applied mathematics, and his research has involved modeling in a variety of fields, including nonlinear fluid flow, production quality control, regional and transportation planning, information resource management, and especially data and information quality. At the 1996 Conference on Information Quality held at MIT, Harry Pazer and Dr. Ballou received the “Outstanding Research Contribution” award for their pioneering contributions to the field of information quality. Dr. Ballou’s research in the area of information systems has appeared in various journals, including Communications of the ACM, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and Management Science.
